During a consultation, we look at all the options in design, flavors and cost.  Our base price is $3.75 per serving.  That is for ANY design.  Where people get confused are the "extras" that can be added.  The following is a good rule of thumb to use:

If something is "added" to the cake that is a cost for our company, then an additional charge is added to the cake.  Keep in mind, this additional charge can be a time inclusive charge (like for fondant and edible pearls).

I try to be as fair as possible about extras and offer many options to the extra costs.

An example below:

Regular white cake is $3.75 per serving and a customer wants edible pearls.  The pearls would be an extra fee of $25+.  I obviously have to purchase the material to make pearls and pearls are a labor intensive item, thus the  exta. (By the way, pearls are a beautiful addition and are highly recommended.  They are simply awesome!  Pictures don't do any justice here!!)  Keep in mind that these both could have been done with icing dots for NO ADDITIONAL charge in design.


























Example Below:  Regular chocolate grooms cake (Boxes).  The charge is $2.95 per serving for the cake and 55 cents extra per serving for the fondant work (fondant cost plus time).  The fondant gift boxes/packages are time intensive.  This cost would be $4.05 per serving.

















Example below:  Then there are the cake who have both or several combinations.  The cake below has pearls and fondant  So this was $3.75 per serving  + 75.00 for heavy edible pearl work + $95.00 for fondant swags and stripes.  The Edible Sugar Bow was $45.00 . (Still a great price for this quality!)

The actual cake was fake on the BOTTOM two tiers AND the second from the top...so this only served about 160 guests...but the bride wanted a HUGE cake..and the cost of fakes make is very very affordable.  Remember the CAKE is the center piece of the reception!
























Or there are multiple combinations such as this:

This cake was awesome!  It has Pearls, Gum Paste Flowers and Fondant.  Notice that there are only gumpaste on ONE tier, so only that tier is charged for gumpaste!  Only the top tier has pearls so only that tier is charged for pearls.  The bottom two have fondant so those are charged for fondant.






























Example below:  Fondant Boxes.  The tiers with fondant are charged $1.00 extra per serving.  ($4.75 per serving)  The top tier and the third tier were not charged.  This bride elected to go with dots instead of pearls for cost purposes. It was still a beautiful cake!























Keep in mind that not all bakers charge "a la carte" like we do, in fact not many do.  we like to offer choices and show you where your money is being spent.  If there is a certain cake you like be sure to ask about possibilities and maybe we can work something out to get you the cake of your dreams!
